The 47th edition of the 606-nautical-mile offshore classic, which runs a course around Sicily and back to Malta. The fleet sets off from beneath the Saluting Battery in Grand Harbour.

The staggered start beneath the bastions, with the Saluting Battery cannon firing, is the single most photogenic hour in Valletta's sporting year. Best free viewpoints are the Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens, off Castille Place and Battery Street.

The best public viewpoints fill up well before the first boats cross the line, so be in the Upper Barrakka by about 10:00 and bring a hat. Organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
