This exhibition marks 150 years since the birth of Edward Caruana Dingli (1876–1950), one of Malta's most influential artists, bringing together a selection of his works from the National Collection and highlighting the dialogue between his formal portraits and his folkloristic paintings.
Caruana Dingli was born into an artistic family in Valletta on 10 August 1876 and pursued a career in military service before dedicating himself to art.
It is a small, well-focused show inside a 16th-century auberge — an easy hour, and the folkloristic scenes are the most charming introduction to old Malta a guest will find in the city. The museum is open daily 10:00–18:00 and the display runs until Sunday 4 October.
