Victory Day, Jum il-Vitorja, is a fixed-date public holiday. The Maltese National Regatta is a fixed-seat rowing regatta held twice a year, on 31 March and on Victory Day, pitching eight clubs against each other over eleven races of 1,040 metres, with the fortifications of Valletta, the Three Cities and Fort St Angelo as a backdrop.

It is a fiercely partisan local occasion rather than a tourist show, which is exactly why it's worth seeing. Races traditionally run in the afternoon, though the 2026 race schedule and start time could not be confirmed.

Village feasts for the Nativity of Mary are held the same day in Senglea, Naxxar and Mellieħa; Senglea is directly across the water. Viewing is free from public viewpoints on the Valletta side.
